Parents who have a lot of experience with speech therapy share their tips for success.

Make sure your child has a good breakfast on speech days and a snack ready to go for afterwards - all that brain activity burns a lot of energy!

Some children benefit from physical activity just before, e.g., a run around the block or a bounce on the trampoline. Others might also need some one-on-one time... if possible try and spend some time together just before, so they don't use the session to get your attention.

Even though you might only be going to your lounge for a telehealth session, prepare like you are leaving the house e.g., water bottle, toilet stop and making sure you have your speech homework book.

Setting a daily phone alarm to remind about recommended practice can make a huge difference.

Make sure the session time you book will fit in with your family dynamics - early morning sessions don't work for everyone.
